For several days, a young girl born in 2009 has been missing in Tenweich, a suburb of Nouakchott. The case, revealed by the Akher Khabar website, has sparked serious concern among both the family and the public.
According to her relatives, the girl left the family home late at night, asking to go out briefly to satisfy a physical need. Her mother, who had confidently let her out, quickly became concerned about her prolonged absence. After a few minutes, she began looking for her at neighbors’ houses and in the surrounding area, without success.
The disappearance was reported to the authorities the next day. Since then, the family says they have crisscrossed the capital tirelessly, exploring apartments, teahouses, markets, and popular places, but have found no trace of their daughter. The lack of witness accounts or usable surveillance videos further complicates the search.
Contacted by the family, the National Police confirmed that its teams have been mobilized since the disappearance was reported. Patrols have reportedly been sent to several neighborhoods, but no tangible clues have yet been found to advance the investigation.
In a climate of growing tension, the local community is calling for greater vigilance, particularly in light of the increasing number of cases of missing or assaulted young girls in the capital. Voices are also being raised on social media to call for increased investigative resources and citizen mobilization to find the missing girl.
At this point, all theories remain open, but for the family, silence remains the worst of all. They are launching a new appeal to anyone with information, however small, to help them find their daughter.
